IIJ Expands its Service Menu and Increases Data Volumes in the IIJ Mobile Service

IIJ to Begin Offering New High Volume Plans and Increasing Monthly LTE High-Speed Data Volume of Existing Plans from 7 GB to 10 GB

January 30, 2017

TOKYO-January 30, 2017-Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ, NASDAQ: IIJI, TSE1: 3774), one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, today announced that it has revised the specifications for its enterprise mobile data service, IIJ Mobile Service. Starting February 1, 2017, IIJ will provide an increase to the monthly high-speed data volume, raising it to 10 GB, while maintaining its current service fees. Simultaneously, it will also begin offering new high-volume plans that allow monthly high-speed data transmission of 15 GB, 20 GB, or 30 GB.

IIJ Mobile Service is a high-speed data communications service compatible with multiple carriers, and it is available in Type D-for use with NTT DOCOMO's LTE/3G network-and Type K-for use with KDDI au's 4G LTE network. Its pricing plans also provide choice. Customers on the Fixed Fee Plan L are billed the same rate each month, and those on the Three-tier Pricing Plan L (Type D only) pay one of three fees, depending on data transmission usage.

The specification revisions and expanded mobile service menu are as follows:

  1. Previously, customers on the Fixed Fee Plan L had transmission speeds restricted to 256 kbps after exceeding 7 GB of data transmission in one month. But now this data cap for high-speed transmissions is being increased to 10 GB.
  2. The Fixed Fee Plan L also includes new high-volume data plans at 15 GB, 20 GB, and 30 GB. (Type D only)
  3. For the Data Sharing option of the Fixed Fee Plan L, in which data caps can be shared across multiple lines on a single contract, the data transmission cap per line increases from 10 GB to 15 GB.
  4. For the Three-tier Pricing Plan L, the data cap available at JPY 5,700 (tier 3) increases from 7 GB to 10 GB.

With wider use of smart devices and cloud services, enterprises need even greater volumes of data transmission than were once available. IIJ believes that these latest revisions to its mobile service will meet the high-volume data transmission needs of the enterprise market.
