Human resources system

IIJ has established a human resources system consisting of a Role and Grade System, Evaluation System, and Compensation System. Through these systems, we aim to support the growth of each employee and sustain innovation as an organization, by ensuring contributions and achievements are appropriately rewarded.

Education support

We provide a growth environment that enables employees to become capable contributors to IIJ while also realizing their own potential through their work.

Training for all employees

New employees training

New employees deepen their understanding of working at IIJ, including fundamental skills as working adults, business etiquette, and company knowledge.

Introductory training
Introductory training helps employees to develop a professional mindset and acquire essential foundational knowledge.
Follow-up training
Follow-up training summarizes the first year and encourages the mindset and actions required for the second year.
1on1
Regular one-on-one meetings are held to check on new employees after assignment and provide individual follow-up.

Global career system

The global career support system is intended for employees wishing to work in a global environment. We provide opportunities for employees to gain overseas experience on their own initiative.

Junior resident officers
This program enables young employees to work overseas for two years and acquire a cosmopolitan mindset through practical work experience.
Resident officers
Resident officers are selected from among mid-career or higher-level employees who wish to work internationally. This system contributes to the expansion of business at overseas locations through overseas assignments spanning up to five years.

Manager training

Manager training aims to enable employees to acquire the management skills necessary for mission achievement and team building.

New manager (manager/department manager) training
This training is for newly appointed managers and department managers to learn management roles, fundamental principles, and required skills.
360° Feedback
This training enables employees to reflect on their own actions from the objective perspectives of superiors, subordinates, and colleagues, aiming to improve their actions through opportunities for introspection.

By level training

This training helps employees to develop necessary capabilities and skills required according to their career phase.

By level (role) training
This training helps employees to understand the roles and outcomes expected at each role grade/level, and acquire and enhance the knowledge and skills necessary for role execution.
OJT trainer training
New hires are assigned a trainer for one year, and training is provided to enhance the guidance and development skills of these new trainers.

Supports for self-development

This system is designed to support employees' self-directed growth, with the purpose of assisting employee skill enhancement and increasing expertise.

Certification acquisition/seminar attendance support
Under this system, IIJ partially covers expenses such as books purchased in preparation for certification, seminar attendance fees, certification exam fees, and renewal processing fees for eligible certifications. We also have a track record of covering fees for optional external seminars.
Cafeteria-style business skills training
This external training system allows employees to freely select and attend necessary training. It offers insights relevant to work and opportunities for reflection.
English training
This training aims to encourage voluntary English learning as part of employees' self-development.

Other training

Finance and Accounting training
This training is focused on enhancing employees' fundamental business skills.
Harassment prevention training
This training for all employees promotes understanding of harassment and fosters a harassment-free workplace environment.
Mental health training
We provide training for employees to learn the fundamentals of mental health, working to create a workplace environment that is healthy for both mind and body, and conducive to productive work.
Security training
We provide internal education on information security.
Career training
This training provides an opportunity for each employee to reflect on their career.
Career reporting system
This system has employees think about the future course of their careers through reflecting on past experiences, and communicate their visions to their managers and HR once a year. We support self-fulfillment by developing our employees from a medium- to long-term perspective and reviewing personnel transfers and assignments.
Rotation system
This system implements transfers that value each individual's personality and lead to career development. By creating opportunities for employees to challenge themselves in new environments and roles through transfers that consider aptitudes and personal preferences, we foster employee growth.
Select Job
Select Job is a system in which employees can experience working in other departments for a certain period of time through in-house recruitment.
This system allows employees to participate in interesting jobs in other departments. They can work at these jobs for about 20% of their prescribed working hours for half of the year. This system aims to promote employee growth and autonomous career development, leading to self-fulfillment through the establishment of an environment that enables employees to have diverse experiences.

Expertise and skills development

This training aims to help employees acquire the specialized knowledge and skills required for each job type. Beyond our established human resource development system, there are also numerous employee-initiated study groups and seminars (both in-person and online).

e-Learning
Through e-learning, we provide opportunities for employees to learn cross-functional skills relevant to roles and business needs, such as problem-solving and skill enhancement.
Skill assessment
We conduct annual skill level assessments for each job type to clarify metrics for personal growth.
