IIJ Offers "IIJ CSIRT Advisory Solution"

August 22, 2016

TOKYO-August 22, 2016-Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ, NASDAQ: IIJI, TSE1: 3774), one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, today announced that it has begun offering the "IIJ CSIRT Advisory Solution," a service that supports organizations' implementation and operation of Computer Security Incident Response Team(CSIRT(*)) to handle security incidents related to cyberattacks.

Cyberattacks that target specific companies and organizations are expanding with each passing year, and the level of complexity and sophistication of those attacks is also increasing. With guidelines for cybersecurity strategies being published by the government as well, cybersecurity is seen as a management issue that companies and organizations should be aware of.

In order to address this situation appropriately, more and more companies are considering the implementation of CSIRT, but because those responsible for doing so lack experience, implementation takes an inordinate amount of time, or plans otherwise hit dead ends. There are also cases in which, even after being implemented, CSIRT functionalities end up not being updated and thus becoming merely a formality.

With the IIJ CSIRT Advisory Solution, IIJ uses the technical knowledge it has amassed through the operation of Internet backbones and through the operations know-how of its security specialist engineers to achieve early launches of CSIRT organizations by providing systems implementation guidelines that are optimized for the customer's organization. IIJ also provides comprehensive support, from CSIRT implementation to operation, by promoting continuous improvement activities as a third-party auditor, even in the operation phase after setup.

  • (*) CSIRT: An abbreviation for Computer Security Incident Response Team, CSIRT refers to an organization that monitors security issues and responds by analyzing causes and handling recovery when incidents occur.
