IIJ Opens Fukuoka Airport Data Center

June 27, 2016

TOKYO-June 27, 2016-Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ, NASDAQ: IIJI, TSE1: 3774), one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, today announced that its Fukuoka Airport Data Center in Fukuoka Prefecture will begin operation on July 1, 2016. The Fukuoka Airport Data Center will be IIJ's 21st data center in Japan.

The Fukuoka Airport Data Center is situated in a central location-within walking distance of the Fukuoka airport-which makes it easily accessible, and in addition to being convenient for air access, it is also only five minutes from Hakata Station by subway.

Along with high-quality housing services and Internet access services connected directly to IIJ’s high-capacity backbone network, this data center will also provide IIJ's cloud service "IIJ GIO Service" and "IIJ GIO Private Backbone Service". By using the IIJ Private Access Service, customers can build a secure cloud environment as if the network is a customer-dedicated private network.

This new data center will not only meet data center demand in the Kyushu area but will also answer the needs of customers who want to create backup sites in Kyushu, outside of the Kanto or Kansai regions as part of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

The Fukuoka Airport Data Center offers the following features:

Provision of everything from high-density racks to smaller-scale partial racks

Each rack can provide up to 6kVA of effective power, giving roughly double the density per rack of traditional data centers. Users can choose what is optimal for them in terms of housing space from a set of options that include full rack, half, quarter or eighth racks.

Compliance with Tier 4, the highest standard in Japan

This data center provides facilities with high levels of security and reliability that meet Tier 4 standards, the highest level of the standard set for data centers by the Japan Data Center Council (JDCC). The facilities also meet the security measure guidelines set forth by the Center for Financial Industry Information Systems (FISC), required by financial institutions and other organizations that require strict security standards.

Improved connectivity with IIJ's cloud service

Customers can connect to the IIJ GIO Service through on-site gateways, making it easy for them to use cloud services as an extension of their own systems. Customers can also use the cloud via high-availability private connections through the redundant private backbone network.

Network Services offered by the Fukuoka Airport Data Center
