TOKYO - December 12, 2022 - Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (TSE Prime: 3774), one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, today announced that it will start offering the IIJ Cloud Data Platform Service, a data integration service that promotes data utilization using the cloud, from December 21, 2022. By aggregating data flowing between on-premise systems and cloud services on this service platform, necessary data can be extracted without affecting existing systems and data can be integrated with cloud services. The service provides more than 90 types of integration adapters for cloud computing such as Salesforce and AWS (Amazon Web Service), and RDBMS (relational database management system) such as Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server, and data flows for integration can be developed with no code. In addition, data masking (confidentiality) functions and the use of closed networks allow for the secure handling of highly confidential data, enabling customers to develop data integration systems easily, securely, and at low cost, and to implement digital transformation through data utilization.

Background

Recently, the shift to cloud computing for corporate IT systems has been progressing, and multi-cloud environments in which on-premise (in-house facilities) and multiple cloud services are used together have become commonplace. In a survey of information system divisions conducted by IIJ this year, the ratio of on-premise to cloud computing for main servers was less than 10% for companies with annual sales of 500 billion yen to 1 trillion yen last year that have shifted more than 50% of their servers to the cloud, but has increased to account for half of all companies this year(*1).
In such an environment, data utilization efforts are advancing throughout society, such as the promotion of enterprise digital transformation, digital government, and smart city concepts, and data distributed in various locations, including on-premise and multiple cloud services, must be integrated and freely utilized. However, in a multi-cloud environment, data integration between systems is becoming increasingly complex, and the development of interfaces for data integration is costly and time-consuming, while ensuring that highly confidential data stored on-premises can be handled securely in the cloud is a challenge. In response to these circumstances, IIJ has developed a new data integration platform to reduce the various burdens of data integration for customers and realize low-cost and secure data utilization. Asteria Corporation's ASTERIA Warp, which has a wealth of connection adapters for linking data with various applications and SaaS and enables in-house production with no-code development, has been adopted as the engine for the data integration function (top share of data integration tools in Japan(*2))).

Overview and features of the IIJ Cloud Data Platform Service

Various cloud interfaces enable quick and low-cost data integration

We provide integration adapters for more than 90 different services and applications, including cloud services such as Salesforce and AWS (Amazon Web Service), and databases such as Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server, so there is no need to develop separate interfaces with each service.

Easy data flow development with no code

Because data flow development can be performed using GUI operations such as drag-and-drop of icons, development work for data integration systems can be done in-house to a large extent, and changes to system specifications can be handled quickly and inexpensively.

Secure handling of sensitive data with masking (confidentiality) function

Data extracted from on-premise systems can be masked on the service's platform to keep personal information and other sensitive data confidential so that it can be handled safely in the cloud. In addition, test data equivalent to that of the production environment can be easily created, allowing high-quality functional tests and performance tests to be performed.

Providing a secure network environment with a closed connection

By using it together with IIJ's network service, this service can be connected to the customer's on-premise environment in a closed area. For example, you can connect your on-premises database, which you do not want to be reachable from the Internet, to this service and integrate this service with cloud services to ensure the safety of your on-premises environment. In addition, by using it together with the IIJ Cloud Exchange Service, it is possible to create a completely closed data integration environment between on-premise and supported cloud services.
