TOKYO-April 14, 2016-Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ, NASDAQ: IIJI, TSE1: 3774), one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, and its US-based subsidiary IIJ America Inc. (IIJ America), today announced that they will add "Virtualization Platform VW Series (VW Series)" to the IIJ GIO US Service lineup from May 3, 2016.

The IIJ GIO US Service provides a highly flexible cloud environment in the United States of America that delivers the same high level of quality as in the Japanese market. In the US, many leading Japanese-affiliated companies tend to be lack of dedicated system administrators, and yet operating conditions at the same level as in Japan are frequently called for. Because of these circumstances, fully managed and dedicated services are in demand. To respond to this need, IIJ America will now offer the VW Series as part of the IIJ GIO US Service. The VW Series provides customers dedicated VMware environments in the cloud. Customers can migrate their on-premises environments without modification, because the VW Series offers total freedom in designing and deploying OSs and applications run on the VMware virtualization platform. This flexibility also enables customers to rapidly and easily build private cloud environments and other systems overseas for use in combination with existing systems.

IIJ America has built infrastructure for the service on both the East Coast (New York) and the West Coast (Los Angeles), offering customers a low-latency, stable environment directly connected to a high-capacity backbone network. Because the service enables seamless connections between cloud environments and corporate WANs, it also responds to demand for backup and disaster recovery solutions.

Through this enhancement to the IIJ GIO US Service, IIJ will now be able to offer the VW Series as part of all IIJ GIO Services in the US, China, Europe, Singapore, and Indonesia, and customers will be able to implement and operate the same environments around the world.

The IIJ Group will continue to actively expand the reach of its high-quality cloud services overseas to respond flexibly to customers' needs for network environments and systems, and it will continue to support customers in building IT environments by providing everything from consulting to systems integration in a one-stop shop.
