Crosswave Expands Data Center Business to Kyoto
IIJ Group Supplies Total Network Solutions

TOKYO, May 10, 2001 - Crosswave Communications Inc. ("Crosswave", NASDAQ: CWCI) today announced plans to open a data center in Kyoto, adding to its six other data centers already operating across Japan. With approximately 900 square meters of floor space, the data center is scheduled to begin service in October 2001. Directly connected to Crosswave's nationwide broadband network infrastructure, the Kyoto data center, in linkage with the six other data centers, provides a reliable multi-site operation, and will offer a full lineup of Crosswave services, including robust housing space and broadband data communications services such as its Wide-area Ethernet Platform Service.
The Kyoto data center will also function as a key station for providing the total network solution services developed by Internet Initiative Japan Inc. ("IIJ", NASDAQ: IIJI) and other IIJ Group companies. IIJ's total network solutions range from Internet connectivity through security, systems integration, monitoring and other management services, and is supplied mainly to high-end corporate network users.
The new facility will be built in cooperation with Kyoto Research Park, a locus for new industry creation in the region, and will respond swiftly to the comprehensive network solution needs of the many leading-edge businesses clustered in the area, including electronics and precision machinery manufacturers and distributors.
Crosswave and the IIJ Group will continue to proactively develop their data center businesses as hub-points for the provision of total network solutions geared to the new network age.
