IIJ Group and Ayala Group Opened a New Data Center in the Philippines

TOKYO, October 25, 2001 - Internet Initiative Japan Inc. ("IIJ", NASDAQ: IIJI), Crosswave Communications, Inc. ("Crosswave", NASDAQ: CWCI) and IIJ Technology Inc. ("IIJ-Tech") today announced the launch of a new data center in the Philippines, together with the Ayala Group, one of the Philippines' largest conglomerates.

The new data center built and run by AyalaPort Makati, Inc., a joint venture company between the Ayala group and the IIJ group, is the first and the only facility in the Philippines designed and built exclusively for data center service operations. Located in Makati, Manila's business district, the data center is characterized by offering high levels of security for use in B-to-B systems and corporations' core administrative systems. A "carrier-free" system has also been introduced which allows free customer selection of telecommunications providers. One of the Philippines' largest financial institutions and a number of companies have already contracted with the new data center.

AyalaPort Makati was established in November 2000 with capital of 243,450,000 peso (approximately JPY600 million), by AyalaPort Inc. (62%), IIJ (14%), Crosswave (14%), and IIJ-Tech (10%). The new data center has a floor space of approximately 1,800 square meters and provides comprehensive data center solutions ranging from co-location, hosting, Internet connectivity, security-related services, systems integration, and various operation and management services.
